We meet every last Friday of the month.
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM (unless noted).
President Levern Wilson

14 years. His testimony is heart touching but all blind people have a touching story to tell.
It was a challenge for him because he was a very active man but he and his family have come a long way and he now holds many offices and does so much for his community.
Our chapter is small in number, but big in love. We have blind and sighted people as members of the chapter. Our youngest member is 8 years old. We also have the best President we could ever have.
The NFB of SC has so much to offer.
Here is just some information about us.
The headquarters is located in Columbia, SC. It's operated by the blind to improve the quality of life for the blind. We also have the following programs and services to offer the blind and low vision person.
Scholarship Program
The
donations help the NFB be able to give a broad array of scholarships to
recognize achievement by blind scholars every year at the State
Conventions and they now have a chance at a better life
.

a blind person is discriminated against solely on the basis of
blindness, the NFB of SC will provide legal assistance to protect the
rights of the blind.

Esq. President of the NFB of SC. He was giving the crowd another one of his great speeches. I guess he gets pretty good at speaking to crowds, being a lawyer.

dancing at the Prom. Lyndsey and Harleigh are the two youngest members of the Conway Chapter.
Lyndsey is 10 yrs. old and Harleigh is 8 yrs. old.

The State Convention at the Marriott in Columbia, SC 2011
Our State Conventions are awesome.
There's anywhere from 300 - 500 blind and sighted people there along with their guide dogs. It is totally an experience you need to see or be a part of.

Even the DJ did an outstanding job with that mixing board and he was blind. He amazed me.
We were also served delicious meals and the
fellowship was remarkable.

Glaucoma accounts for 10% of blindness in the U.S.
But because there often are no warning symptoms, half of the nearly 3
million Americans with glaucoma go undiagnosed until it is
too late.
And if you have had an encounter with these,
please contact a NFB of SC Chapter
near you and you will find support
and love from people who understand.
No one can understand what you are going through
unless they have been there. The NFB of SC families have been there and still are there today and we
care for you.

President Wilson at 843-236-0327

We also have
The Rocky Bottom Retreat and Conference Center of The Blind
which
is a very unique camp. As far as I know, its the only one owned and
operated by the blind in the United States. It is open year round to the
blind of South Carolina and their immediate family. We have organized
Rocky Bottom Retreat and Conference Center of the Blind for blind
children as well as for the senior blind also for low vision people. We
have seminars and training programs for the blind
of all ages.

So Much to see at Rocky Bottom and so peaceful and quiet.
A Play area
for children
Fish to be
caught for
supper.
Family quarters
for large numbers in group to stay
A nice pond to
fish in
Beautiful scenery and a place just to be yourself and be silly if you want to.
Beautiful trails to walk or climb if you are into that kind of exercise.
And a large underground pool to cool off in
A
great place just to relax and get away from the worries of the world
for a little while. No phones, No TV, just peace and quiet. The NFB of
SC Chapters are proud of this facility. We work hard to acquire and
maintain a campsite in the beautiful mountains of South Carolina. It
enables blind members to have an opportunity to take their families on vacation at a lower cost.
